SPIRITUAL AF SUPPORT GROUP GUIDELINES
Roxan Is Not A Guru
She’s a writer who has undergone the intense journey of personal growth and healing from trauma. Because she is not a guru, she wholeheartedly believes that you are the authority on your beliefs, actions, process, and values.
Roxan Is Not A Licensed Therapist
While she has worked as a paraprofessional counselor, Roxan is not a licensed mental health professional, and this group should not be in place of therapy or professional counseling services. The support group is intended to spark insight, personal growth, exploration, and self-love. You’ll explore deep and sensitive topics which require members to be prepared for the emotions that come up while knowing their limitations, boundaries, and preferences.
This support group is for people who are in the position to self-soothe if emotionally or psychologically triggered and/or have a support system in place to rely on if the group’s content evokes an intense response.
Participation…Or Not
Everyone is encouraged to participate or opt out of conversations in the capacity that works best for them. However, by joining The Spiritual AF Support Group, you agree to show up with curiosity for yourself and others, a commitment to being kind to yourself and others and an intention to engage in deep introspection with a community.
Spiritual AF Support Group Is Not A Safe Space…Let Us Explain
Roxan will not guarantee the meetings are a “safe space” in the traditional sense of the term. She finds that labeling communities as “safe spaces” often discourage participants from reporting grievances, boundary breaches, and culturally insensitive behavior in fear of being the one that ruined the “safe space”. Roxan is committed to creating an environment where all participants can expect to be treated with kindness, compassion, and honor for their intelligence, personal and cultural experience and sovereignty.
If there is something that happens in the group that you think Roxan could have handled better, you are encouraged to bring this up with her via email. If you don not feel comfortable speaking directly to Roxan about the issue for whatever reason, please reach out to the Operations Manager, Desi Lenc. As a woman of color, Desi is here if you don’t want to discuss conflicts around race with Roxan. Desi will only share information with Roxan on a need-to-know basis for the purpose of resolving the reported issue.
Refunds
Please note that refunds and make-up sessions are not available for missed group meetings. A benefit of paying for the group in 8-week sections assists members in prioritizing their self-care and personal development work. If after the first session you are sure the group is not for you we will refund your tuition prorated for the group you attended as well as a $25 fee. This will be an intimate group of people who are seeking to shift their relationship with self-love, goal setting, boundaries, mindfulness, and personal reflection. Please be sure you want to do this before registering for the Spiritual AF Support Group. Your understanding and commitment to the group process is greatly appreciated.
